Just How Surprising Can "Love & Gelato" Be

Synopsis: Lina- a normal, boring girl- lives her whole life with only her messy talented mother, but even that doesn't stay the same when her mother is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and dies four months later. To keep her promise in fulfilling her mother's dying wish, she goes to Italy and lives with her mother's dear friend-Howard- , who also happens to be her father. Constantly on the verge of tears and being completely clueless on what happened between Howard and her Mother, she indulges herself in one of her mother's many journals. If she isn't crying, reading, running, having awkward conversations with Howard, or face-timing her best friend, Addie, then you'd probably find her taking in the beauty of Italy or making some new friendships. Nevertheless, her experience is definitely adventurous, mysterious, and brimmed to the top with love and gelato.

review: The first paragraph of the whole book got me all excited and curious for what's coming next, but as we got closer to the plot I wanted it to be more about Lina and less about her mother. I felt as though the book needed a bit more sentiment when the conflict was introduced, this was one of the reasons I kept getting frustrated in the middle of the book. my frustration was mainly due to the fact that I had these expectations that the book would be a bit more adorable and a bit less fast paced and mysterious, however when the conflict was resolved everything seemed to just click into place and the title started to make much more sense.

Style of writing: As I've mentioned before, her books grasp your attention from the beginning, as you reach the middle your heart starts beating quickly and you start forming about what is going on. By the end of the book your heart slows down and you feel contempt that everything is back to normal and the book is back on its cute natural course. I hope I am making any sense at all.

Recommendation: For all readers who like a good mystery and want something exciting and cute at the same time then I fully recommend it and I think you will enjoy it immensely. In fact I think this book will prove a good read for anyone. Its setting was the definition of perfection and the book itself turned out to be just too adorable, if only there was more to read about Lina, an insight on what happens next. Overall i think it deserves a rating of 4/5 stars.
