"The Art of Not Breathing" book review

Synopsis: Elsie and Eddie were twins, Elsie lived and Eddie died. Eddie main suffered from birth asphyxia, the lack of oxygen during birth but believe it or not thats not why he died. kind of. Birth asphyxia slowed his growth rate including brain growth rate and therefore he didn't develop as fast as his sister. To Elsie, Eddie was like a younger brother. one day, when they were eleven years old, they were at the beach and she was holding his hand, they had a short argument, and then he rushed into the overlapping waves and caused his own death, accidentally, but his body was never found. Determined to find his body/ resting place 5 years later, she remembers more about that day and uncovers family secrets that everyone seems to know about except her.On top of all that she is a constant bully victim, has no friends, every other person she knows pities her, she believes her father hates her and blames her for her twin's death, and after a while she also finds out that he isn't the only one that puts the blame on her. It was closure that elsie sought and her breaking the only stressed rule at home was how she tried to get it...... and that rule was: don't go near the WATER.

review: it took a long time to understand and know elsie's goal throughout the book, and even when found out it didn't seem rational and good enough to lead the book.. if you now what i mean. the mysterious edge that was set by the unclear memories of the day that Eddie died shaped the story and kept it going forward.

style of writing: Sarah Alexander's style of writing was focused more on a present tense of writing rather than a past tense. it is different than anything I've read not better nor worse just unique.

recommendation: this book didn't waste my time or anything.... its the kind of book you are happy to read once to try it out but not again. she does not disappoint and it is an interesting read with a very relieving and relaxing ending making you feel as though everything fits perfectly into place........ Closure. overall i give this book 3 stars out of 5 .
